A Little about us
What is a Mushroom Gap?
Mushroom Gaps were created accidentally when my mom bumped my little brother causing him to draw a mouth on a mushroom that he was sketching. He called it a Mushroom Gap (nobody knows why) and from that day forward we were both obsessed with drawing pictures of Mushroom Gaps and the world they live in.
We drew Mushroom Gaps mining for precious jewels and rocks in dangerous caves, fighting monsters and going on adventures in deep forests.
We drew little mushroom Gap homes, and maps, and shops, and made little Mushroom Gap Toys, bringing them into the woods that surrounded our home, building homes for them with Lincoln logs and telling stories about them to each other.
And as adults we are still at it!
We published our first real book a few years ago. It’s called ‘A Walk Through Mushroom Town’ and is written simply and sweetly for little children. It’s written by David, and Illustrated by me, Nicole.
I also create little and big Mushroom Gap Plushies, stickers, cards, and prints for Mushroom Lovers big and small!
Where are we now?
David lives in our childhood hometown in Wisconsin, and I’m living in Alaska with my husband Daniel where we work, play, and run around in the woods as much as possible.
Where are we going?
We always have exciting new ideas in the works. My second book “Into the mines with my dad” is in the finishing stages and will be available this summer! Stay tuned, and make sure to subscribe to our email list to get updates and offers.
